Tomohiro Yamauchi is Executive Director and Global Head of Scouting & Transaction Oncology, Business Development at Astellas Pharma.
With over 16 years at Astellas, Tomohiro has held roles across Business Development, R&D, Corporate and Portfolio Strategy, leading multiple business transactions including M&A, in-/out-licensing, new company creation, asset sale, clinical combo trial collaboration, and companion diagnostics collaboration.
Tomohiro has had a number of high-profile speaker engagements regarding the current BD and investment landscape in the last year alone, including participating in panels at BIO International 2025 and the BFC Global Healthcare Summer BD & Investment Conference 2025. He also took part in a webinar for the Licensing Executives Society regarding a recent award-winning collaboration between Astellas and Cullgen.
He has more than 10 years’ experience in oncology research and has published several scientific papers in well-recognized journals. Prior to joining Astellas, he was a research associate at RIKEN, Japan.
Tomohiro holds a Ph.D. in Medicine from Tsukuba University and is a licensed clinical pharmacist in Japan.
