Tara Dalton, PhD

Dr. Tara Dalton, CEO of Altratech Ltd, leads the company’s technical and commercial strategy. She is a Fellow of the Irish Academy of Engineers and an internationally recognised expert in thermodynamics, microfluidics, and point-of-care diagnostics. At the University of Limerick, Dr. Dalton has supervised more than 20 PhD students, published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, and is named on more than 50 granted and pending patents. Her research pioneered the miniaturisation of PCR reactions to nanolitre droplet volumes. She previously founded Stokes Bio Ltd, a microfluidics company that developed high-throughput PCR genotyping instrumentation and grew to 25 employees prior to acquisition by Life Technologies. Following the acquisition, she relocated to the United States for two years to support the commercialisation of the technology within Life Technologies/Thermo Fisher Scientific.
