Sven Ansorge
Director of Technical Training and Site Lead,
Canadian Alliance for Skills and Training in Life Sciences (CASTL)
Sven has over 15 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry and R&D. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Polytechnique de Montréal and has led teams and projects in academic and industrial/GMP manufacturing environments. His expertise includes bioprocessing for viral vectors, vaccines, recombinant proteins, and cell therapy products.
His career spans from small biotech firms (Enobia/Alexion, ExCellThera) to large pharma (GSK, Belgium), covering R&D, process development, and commercial GMP manufacturing.
Since 2022, Sven has been the Director of Technical Training at the Canadian Alliance for Skills and Training in Life Sciences (CASTL), which delivers world-class biomanufacturing training through facilities in Charlottetown, Montreal, and Richmond.
Previously, he led manufacturing and process development at ExCellThera (2019–2022), advancing a cell therapy product toward commercial approval. From 2014–2019, at the National Research Council Canada, he built and managed a team focused on scaling up cell culture-based suspension processes and lentiviral vector production.
Sven has published over 20 peer-reviewed manuscripts, presented at numerous international conferences, and has been an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at McGill University since 2019.
