Mr. Spector is the Executive Vice President, Head of Business Development, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Longboard Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: LBPH), a spin-out from Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (acquired by Pfizer Inc.) where he was previously general counsel from 2001 to 2020 and has been an advisor since 1998. Longboard focuses on developing drugs for rare neurological conditions, with its most advance candidate in clinical development for the potential treatment of seizures associated with Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathies (DEEs). In addition to having served as Longboard’s general counsel since its inception and for its IPO in March 2021, Mr. Spector concurrently acted as Galecto, Inc.’s (focusing on fibrotic disease and cancer) general counsel for its IPO in October 2020, and has advised other public and private biopharmaceutical companies in varying roles. Mr. Spector is a past president and a long-time member of the board of directors of the Association of Corporate Counsel, San Diego Chapter, and has taught courses as an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego School of Law. Prior to joining the biopharmaceutical industry, Mr. Spector was a business and finance partner with the law firm of Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP. Mr. Spector holds a B.A. and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
