Sarah Tao, is the Head of Search & Evaluation, Technology Platforms within Sanofi Partnering, where she leads the identification and evaluation of cutting-edge technologies that can advance Sanofi’s R&D strategy across biologics, small molecules, and platform innovation. She has been with Sanofi since 2017, holding successive leadership roles in External Innovation, Biologics Research, and Large Molecules R&D before taking her current position in Cambridge, MA.
Prior to joining Sanofi, Dr. Tao served as Senior Manager of New Technologies at CooperVision, where she built global research programs in advanced ophthalmic and digital health devices, and as Senior Member of the Technical Staff in the MEMS Design Group at Draper Laboratory, leading programs in drug delivery and tissue engineering. She began her career in academic bioengineering research at UCSF, Boston University, and The Wistar Institute.
Dr. Tao received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University and her B.S. in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Controlled Release Society Eurand Grand Prize and the Capsugel/Pfizer Innovative Drug Delivery Award.
A seasoned public speaker, Dr. Tao has participated in and moderated multiple international forums, including SynBioBeta, PODD, and The Conference Forum’s Drug Delivery Summit.
