Robert Kamensky

Bob Kamensky is the Chief Executive Officer of Feeding San Diego, where he leads one of the region’s most innovative hunger-relief and food rescue organizations, helping provide more than 35 million meals annually to families, children, seniors, and veterans across San Diego County. A retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral with more than 35 years of military service, Bob brings decades of strategic leadership and operational expertise to the nonprofit sector. He joined Feeding San Diego in 2021 as Chief Strategy Officer, applying the systems-thinking and operational discipline he developed during his distinguished naval career to strengthen the organization’s strategy, partnerships, and long-term growth. Earlier in his career, Bob held multiple leadership commands within the U.S. Submarine Force, serving both on active duty and in the Navy Reserve. His military service culminated with his promotion to Rear Admiral, where he held several strategic leadership roles, including establishing and leading a multinational command in Europe as Commander, Submarine Forces NATO. In addition, Bob built a diverse professional background in the private and public sectors, holding leadership roles in the aerospace industry and later serving in federal service with the Department of the Navy, leading process innovation initiatives for Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR). Following his retirement from military service, Bob turned his focus toward community impact, consulting with nonprofit organizations and eventually supporting Feeding San Diego on strategic planning efforts before joining the organization full-time. Having first been stationed in San Diego in 1980, Bob considers it a privilege to serve the community his family calls home. As CEO, he leads with a philosophy rooted in servant leadership, mission focus, and responsible stewardship, ensuring that Feeding San Diego continues to innovate and expand its impact in the fight against hunger.
