Dr. Latefi is the Chief Scientific Officer and co-founder of Applied Biological Laboratories. Founded in 2016, Applied Bio is developing novel treatments to strengthen mucosal immunity, regulate inflammation, and repair tissue damage due to respiratory disease. Prior to her current role, she was a chief scientist and investment professional at Pegasus Capital Advisors, a private equity firm. While at Pegasus, she identified innovative technologies that promote environmental sustainability and human health, translated scientific innovations into new, market driven, practical applications, and led scientific advisory boards staffed by world-renown physicians and scientists. During her PhD research at McGill University, Dr. Latefi used genetic engineering, molecular biology, and biochemistry to study adhesion molecules in the developing nervous system. Dr Latefi currently serves on the Board of the Querry Simpson Institute of Regenerative Medicine at Northwestern University and has served on the NIH SBIR study section for infectious diseases. She is also the author of several granted patents.
