Nathan Fowler, MD

As Chief Medical Officer at BostonGene, Dr. Nathan Fowler brings over 20 years of patient care experience, most recently as Professor of Medicine in the Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Fowler earned his medical degree, internship, and residency at the University of Texas, followed by a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Georgetown University Hospital. At MD Anderson, he focused on developing groundbreaking therapies for cancer patients and led the clinical research and new drug development programs for nearly ten years. His work contributed to FDA approval of several novel agents in lymphoma and the development of one of the first combination immunotherapy regimens for untreated lymphomas. He is the primary investigator for an ongoing international phase III study of this approach.
Widely recognized as an expert in blood cancer drug development, Dr. Fowler has published over 175 peer-reviewed articles and numerous textbooks. He is a frequent speaker at major scientific conferences. Prior to his medical career, Dr. Fowler served in the U.S. Army as a nuclear, biological, and chemical defense specialist. He also is the President and Founder of Halo House Foundation, a nonprofit providing housing for blood cancer patients in treatment.
