Dr. Mona Chitre is a transformative managed care executive; national authority in Pharmacy cost, quality, and accessibility; distinguished author and speaker; innovative entrepreneur; career mentor to women and minority professionals; and dedicated leader of non-profit and industry organizations. As Chief Pharmacy Officer and President of Pharmacy Solutions for Excellus BlueCross BlueShield and its family of companies, Mona is focused on ensuring affordability, access, and market-leading pharmacy solutions to communities across the country. She sets the organization's pharmacy strategy; has oversight for margin, revenue, and sales; and leads quality operations and clinical performance. Mona is also responsible for ensuring the diverse needs of the Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid populations. She has held numerous strategic leadership roles at the health plan over her decades-long career. Mona is passionate about giving back to both her profession and the community. She has served on several industry boards including Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy Foundation, CivicaScript, and BlueCross BlueShield Association National Council of Physician and Pharmacy Executives. She currently serves on the board of the United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes. Mona has been recognized by the Diversity Journal as a Woman to Watch and has received numerous awards for her contributions from the Rochester Business Journal including 40 Under 40, Woman of Excellence, Athena Award, and Circle of Excellence. Mona completed her undergraduate and graduate training at Rutgers University, and her post-doctoral primary care residency at the VA Hospital in Buffalo, NY. She is a registered pharmacist in both New York and New Jersey and serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council of St. John Fisher Wegmans College of Pharmacy.
