Moira Gunn is both a journalist and an academic. Dr. Gunn is perhaps best known as a journalist, hosting the weekly program Tech Nation and its regular segment BioTech Nation, which air on NPR affiliates and in domestic and international public radio venues. The BioTech Nation biotech-only podcast stream reaches a targeted audience in both US and global bioclusters. Since 2007, she has interviewed over 1,000 biotech CEO’s, global industry leaders, and research scientists. In academics, Professor Gunn is the Founder and Director of Bioentrepreneurship (BioE) at the University of San Francisco. With a focus on biopharmaceuticals, vaccines, diagnostics, biomedical devices and digital health, it emphasizes the entrepreneurial journey from lab bench to commercial product. For her work bringing biotech and tech to mainstream audiences, she was awarded the U.S. National Science Board’s Public Service Award to the Individual for “Increasing the Public Understanding of Science and Engineering.”
