Michelle Ottey, PhD, is the President of CIC Campuses and Labs, overseeing the strategic growth and operational excellence of CIC’s international network of life science and innovation campuses across the US, Europe, and Asia. A seasoned genetics and cell biology expert with a passion for operational leadership, Michelle bridges the worlds of rigorous science and dynamic business. She earned her PhD in Genetics from Thomas Jefferson University and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine. Michelle began her post-academic career at Fairfax Cryobank in 2006, where she spent fifteen years advancing to Director of Operations and Laboratory Director. During this tenure, she was instrumental in building high-performing teams, serving on the Medical Advisory Board, and representing the organization as its spokesperson—experience that honed her expertise in leadership, regulatory compliance, and complex operations. In 2022, Michelle joined CIC, initially serving as the Managing Director of the Philadelphia campus before taking on the role of Global Head of Labs and Centers. In her current position as President, she champions collaborative ecosystems and drives the creation of world-class laboratory and workspace environments that empower startups, scale-ups, and global corporations. Michelle is recognized for her ability to align CIC’s mission—to improve the world through innovation—with measurable, sustainable impact. She is a dedicated thought leader who leverages her scientific background and proven track record to guide strategic decision-making across the global innovation ecosystem.
