I lead the scientific and executive team at GSNO Therapeutics and provide scientific insight, planning leadership, data monitoring, analysis, and interpretation, and organizational oversight of both the chemical synthesis of the compound, and completion of the safety and efficacy studies. I have also raised much of the capital for the company since inception from grants, contracts, and private investors. I have had academic training and pharmaceutical industry experience for many years. I was a Director of Biological Research and Safety Assessment at Merck for 13 years and contributed to the development of many of Merck’s marketed products. I have also founded and developed 7 biopharmaceutical companies. I have invented 19 pharmaceutical patents. Two of the drugs I invented and developed have been in clinical trials, one in a Phase III trial. I was an integral part of the teams that accomplished those drug development projects, including initiating and managing research and development activities necessary to file INDs, managing financial aspects of the projects including detailed budgets, managing employees, and delivering projects on time and budget. Furthermore, I initiated many collaborations with both industry and academic teams that accomplished the targeted aims and also resulted in peer-reviewed publications.
