Matt Silversten is the Head of Litigation, Investigations, Employment & Governance at Astellas. Astellas is a global pharmaceutical company based in Tokyo, Japan. Matt has worked in the Legal Department at Astellas for over 13 years and has held a number of different roles over that time. In his current role, Matt oversees a global team of attorneys and legal professionals who manage all aspects of non-IP litigation and investigations (both those arising through the Company’s internal compliance investigation program and its responses to government investigations) as well as who provide strategic guidance to the Company on employment- and governance-related matters. Matt is also responsible for overseeing the Astellas Legal Department’s DEI program. Matt and his team have several important initiatives ongoing in the DEI space that are having a positive impact on employees and the culture within the Astellas Legal Department. Prior to joining Astellas, Matt was an associate in the Cleveland office of the international law firm, Jones Day, where he served clients in a variety of industries in complex commercial litigation in courts across the United States.
