Dr. Mark A. Turco serves as President and CEO of the Rhode Island Life Science Hub, the state’s central organization dedicated to growing its life sciences ecosystem. With over 25 years of leadership in clinical medicine, academic research, and medical technology innovation, he has guided early-stage ventures through technology development, regulatory pathways, and market launch.
Previously, Dr. Turco was Chief Innovation Officer at the University of Pennsylvania, where he founded the Center for Penn-Health Tech to bridge engineering and medicine. He also led two cardiovascular startups that were eventually acquired by major medical device firms.
Dr. Turco earned his MD from George Washington University School of Medicine and completed residency and cardiology fellow training in Philadelphia. A Providence resident, he acts as Rhode Island’s inaugural hub CEO, focused on translating research into commercial impact.
