Dr. Mark Steen was appointed vice president, Sustainability and Climate Initiatives in October 2021. In this dual role, Steen leads coordination of Corning's sustainability efforts across business and functions and also is responsible for supporting accelerating initiatives that drive Corning;s growth related to global climate action.
Prior to his current role, STeen was the consulting principal for Corning's Corporate Strategy group from 2013 until 2021. Steen led or worked on a diverse set of special projects for Corning's senior leadership in Digital Transformation and Advanced Analytics; strategy framework development; CEO and Corporate Communications; machine vision for Manufacturing; currency hedging; and Mergers and Acquisition analysis.
Previously, Steen worked in the financial sector with Citadel Asset Management in convertible bonds and Safor Bernstein in sell-side research and was an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company, where he worked on strategy, marketing, pricing and M&A engagements for U.S. and European Global 500 companies, including Corning.
Steen holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. from Duke University's Department of Physics and Center for Nonlinear and Complex Systems as well as a Bachelor of Arts in physics from Davidson College.
