Mark Stead

Mark Stead is Executive Director, External R&D Technology Innovation, within Business Development at Amgen. In this role, he leads efforts to identify, evaluate, and advance strategic collaborations with AI-enabled technology companies across the biotechnology and technology ecosystems. He serves on both the Business Development and AI & Data leadership teams and helps shape Amgen’s technology partnership strategy through engagement with leading technology firms, venture investors, and emerging innovators. Working closely with cross-functional teams across the enterprise, Mark supports the evaluation and advancement of technology opportunities spanning Research & Development, Commercial, and Operations. His work focuses on bridging biotechnology and advanced technologies to help accelerate innovation at Amgen. Prior to rejoining Amgen, Mark served as Head of Business Development and Drug Discovery at Atomic AI, a biotechnology company focused on AI-enabled RNA-targeted therapeutics. Earlier in his career, he held business development and alliance management roles at Exelixis and Kite Pharma. Mark began his biotechnology career at Amgen, where he worked across both Discovery Research and Business Development.
