Lisa Thomas Read, DVM, PhD, joined Amivas, a co-development partner with the Department of Defense, in 2023 and serves as the Vice President of Research and Development. Prior to Amivas, Dr. Read served as the Chief of Staff for Public Health at the Defense Health Agency and the Deputy Commander of the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases. She held additional roles across the US Army Medical Research and Development Command at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and the US Army Medical Material Development Activity. She has extensive leadership experience including preclinical assay development for drug discovery, advanced pharmaceutical product development, program management, and the development of medical countermeasures against high-consequence pathogens. Lisa received a PhD from Tulane University School of Medicine, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois and is certified as a project management professional.
