Prof. Broich is a physician (neurology, psychiatry, cognitive behavioral therapy) and has been President of the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) in Bonn since 2014. His current activities in the European Medicines Regulatory Network are Member of the Management Board of the European Medicines Agency, member of the newly established New Pharma Legislation Oversight Group and Member of the HMA Management Group. He is the acting co-chair of the Executive Steering Group on Shortages and Safety of Medicinal Products, the Darwin EU Advisory Board and the Network Data Steering Group of the EMA. His scientific focus is on clinical psychopharmacology, neurodegenerative diseases, and the potential of biomarkers as well as the methodology of clinical studies. Prof. Karl Broich is the author and co-author of over 250 articles (original scientific papers, reviews, book contributions).
