Karen Harris is Executive Director of Mission-Related Investments and Finance at the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF). She leads the foundation’s venture-based investment strategy, having structured and stewarded dozens of investments, and manages the ADDF’s extensive portfolio of securities and royalty arrangements with universities and biotech companies.
With a background spanning nonprofit leadership and investment banking, Ms. Harris is committed to increasing transparency around complex financial information and strengthening organizational effectiveness through robust governance, strategic planning, and financial controls. She regularly presents to ADDF’s Boards of Governors and Overseers, launched the board-level Finance and Audit Committee, and oversees the organization’s banking relationships.
Prior to joining ADDF, Ms. Harris served as Chief Financial Officer of the East Harlem Tutorial Program and Director of Development at Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center. Earlier in her career, she spent more than 20 years in the financial sector, including as Global COO of Global Equity Capital Markets at UBS, a $1 billion division with 190 bankers, and as a Director and investment banker at Merrill Lynch.
Ms. Harris earned an MBA in Finance from Stanford Graduate School of Business, graduating first in her class, and a BA in Economics from Columbia University
