Justin Chartron, PhD

CSO
ProtaBody, Inc.
Justin Chartron is the CSO and a co-founder of ProtaBody, a spin-out from Protabit, LLC. While at Protabit, he developed and refined the experimental platform that generates the high-throughput data needed to drive ProtaBody's AI technologies. This platform was the result of his 20+ years of experience in protein biochemistry, yeast synthetic biology and next generation sequencing. He leads engineering campaigns that have yielded IND-pending therapeutic antibodies. Prior to joining Protabit, he was an Assistant Professor of Bioengineering at the University of California, Riverside, where is research group focused on production of biologics from fungal expression hosts. He developed high-throughput assays to interrogate the effects of heterologous protein secretion on the host cell, with the aim of identifying and alleviating bottlenecks of the protein biogenesis and secretion pathways. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at Caltech, and his B.S. in Molecular Biology at UCSD.
