Dr. Jinendra Ekanayake, MD, PhD, is a Stanford cerebrovascular neurosurgeon with a clinical and research focus on stroke neuroprotection and bypass surgery. He serves as SPARK Scholar and scientific lead of the MagNETIC program at Stanford Medicine and is co-PI of the MagNETs trial - a first-in-indication RCT of magnesium neuroprotection in Moyamoya bypass, with 66 of 88 patients enrolled at the Stanford Stroke Centre. Dr. Ekanayake has a track record of research funding and invention, and has worked with the Royal Society, UK Houses of Parliament, and the UK’s Chief Medical Officer to define policy for emerging technologies. He is the inventor of a novel IV Magnesium Threonate formulation with a patent filing through Stanford.
