Jérôme Van Biervliet is • Managing Director of VIB (research institute and life science incubator in Belgium, ~2000 scientists), • Board member (or former) of several biotech companies (Confo-therapeutics, Augustine Therapeutics, Exevir, Flandersbio, Medvia and Oncurious) • an active member of the European Life Science VC community, and • an advisor for biotechnology towards Belgian governments and the European commission. Under his leadership, VIB Innovation & Business, • has started and/or is managing a portfolio of 19 VC-backed biotech companies, • has secured dealflow of approximately 140M€ partnering income • kickstarted a startup accelerator program called biotopeby VIB program, • works closely with the investor community, in particular Biotope Ventures, V-bio ventures and Avante Biocapital and is an active participant in the European VC market place • has grown to a team of approximately >60 highly talented colleagues. Jérôme trained as a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine, is an ACVIM (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine) diplomate, has a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from KU Leuven and trained at Vlerick Business School
