Janeth J. Peña, Ph.D., is a leader in New Mexico’s life sciences sector, currently serving as the Chief Scientific Officer at Sandia Biotech and the Executive Director of NMBio (New
Mexico Biotechnology & Biomedical Association).
At Sandia Biotech, Dr. Peña leads the development of FluorAbodies®, a proprietary line of recombinant, fluorescently labeled antibodies, and other protein-based reagents that streamline biomedical research. Her technical expertise is grounded in a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of New Mexico, specializing in molecular biology and parasitology.
As Executive Director of NMBio, she bridges academia, industry, and government to
accelerate the growth of New Mexico’s bioscience economy. Dr. Peña is dedicated to
fostering small business success and developing a robust workforce pipeline to advance New Mexico as a hub for global biotechnology innovation.
