James Watson is an Operating Partner in Bio + Health, leading our Business and Corporate Development team in life sciences. James provides strategic business, corporate development and financing support and is also a Board member for three of Andreesen Horowitz's bio portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Andreessen Horowitz, he held Chief Business Officer, President, or Financial leadership roles with a number of venture-backed biotech companies, most recently Carmot Therapeutics prior to its $2.7 billion acquisition by Roche. Previously, he spent nearly 10 years leading a boutique investment bank providing strategic advisory and financing services to Life Science clients. Prior to banking, he headed corporate development for two public companies and led a management consulting practice. James began his career with Eli Lilly & Company holding various new product development and commercial roles in the US and Europe.
James obtained an MBA and Fulbright Scholarship from Indiana University. James is a native of London, England and now enjoys skiing and mountain biking from his base in northern California.
