Erika Fry is an award-winning journalist and former Senior Writer at Fortune, where she covered health care, biotechnology, and global business with a focus on investigative and long-form reporting. Over more than a decade at Fortune, she produced deeply researched features on the intersection of science, ethics, and industry—most recently examining the evolving landscape of animal testing, human-based models, and the race to modernize preclinical research. Her work has earned numerous honors, including the Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism and the WERT Prize for Global Business Reporting. Her feature on the rollout of the world’s first dengue vaccine in the Philippines was a National Magazine Award finalist and is anthologized in The Best American Magazine Writing 2020. Erika has reported from more than a dozen countries, bringing a global lens to science and health policy issues. She previously served as a writer and editor at the Columbia Journalism Review and as an investigative reporter at the Bangkok Post. A native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she is a graduate of Dartmouth College and holds an M.A. in Political Journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
