Deborah Hay

Deborah Hay is a senior pharmacist and Assistant Director in the Medicine Shortages Section of the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). Deborah has also worked in the Listing Compliance Section (LCS), which regulates complementary medicines. Deborah has extensive experience working as a hospital clinical pharmacist, specialising in oncology, haematology, and clinical trials. She leads a team to provide secretariat support and chair meetings of the Medicines Availability Working Group, which meets for the purposes of collaborating on medicine shortages to improve national monitoring and mitigate their impacts on health services. Deborah was a winner of team Secretary’s Awards in 2020, for innovation, and 2022 for excellence in service. These awards acknowledge people and teams who demonstrate excellence and model Department of Health and Aged Care behaviours in action and other core values, while contributing to the health and wellbeing of Australians.
