Daniel B. Haack, PhD
Chief Executive Officer
A-Form Solutions, Inc.
Dr. Daniel B. Haack is the founder and CEO of A-Form Solutions, a San Diego-based structural biology company pioneering scaffold-enabled cryo-EM for RNA. He is the first author of "Scaffold-enabled high-resolution cryo-EM structure determination of RNA," published in Nature Communications, which introduced a transformative approach for solving the structures of small and previously intractable RNAs by fusing them to a group II intron scaffold. The work demonstrated atomic-resolution insight into ligand-binding pockets of therapeutically relevant RNAs, including the TPP riboswitch aptamer at 2.5 Å, and established a generalizable platform now used to interrogate a wide variety of RNA targets. Trained at the University of California, San Diego, Dr. Haack has spent his career at the intersection of RNA biology, biochemistry, and structural biology, with deep expertise in RNA structure/function relationships. He founded A-Form Solutions to translate this technology into a scalable capability for the RNA therapeutics industry, where it is enabling structure-based drug design across small molecules, ASOs, and siRNAs. He is based in San Diego, California.
