In his capacity as Director-General, Dr. Lee is the chief architect of Taiwan’s
Next-Generation Digital Public Infrastructure for Healthcare.
Dr. Chien-Chang Lee is a distinguished physician-scientist and digital health policymaker. Bridging the gap between frontline clinical care and national health strategy, Dr. Lee holds Doctor of Science (ScD) in Epidemiology from Harvard University and an M.D. from National Taiwan University. He is a certified global faculty member in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Stanford University, fuels his mission to translate medical innovation into public policy.
Recognized as one of Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists, he has authored over 250 SCI-indexed publications. He is a global pioneer in medical artificial intelligence, as a two-time Gold Edison Award winner. He was honored in 2024 for HoloXMed, a metaverse-based holographic imaging system, and in 2025 for an AI-driven sudden death early warning system. His research continues to define the cutting edge of clinical technology, recently securing First Prize at IDWeek 2025 for a breakthrough application using mass spectrometry and Large Language Models (LLMs) to predict antimicrobial resistance.
