Armen Vidian

Armen Vidian is Managing Partner and co-founder of Recode Ventures, an early-stage venture firm investing exclusively in AI companies transforming healthcare and the life sciences. Recode invests at the pre-Seed, Seed, and Series A stages in companies building proprietary data and AI platforms across clinical diagnostics, biological engineering, synthetic biology, and drug discovery. Its portfolio spans AI-guided diagnostics and surgery, laboratory automation, synthetic biology infrastructure, and computational approaches to discovering and engineering new therapeutics. Prior to founding Recode, Armen was an early Partner at DCVC, where he led or co-led investments in companies including AbCellera (NASDAQ: ABCL) and Recursion (NASDAQ: RXRX), pioneers in AI-driven antibody discovery and drug development. His board experience includes serving as Chairman of Caption Health, whose AI-guided cardiac ultrasound platform was acquired by GE HealthCare, and as a Board Director of Proprio, a surgical intelligence company integrating AI, computer vision, and augmented reality. Before venture capital, Armen spent nearly three decades as an engineer, entrepreneur, and operator in medical technology and software. He co-founded BlueTalon, a data federation company acquired by Microsoft that initially focused on applications in population health and clinical trial design. Armen holds an S.B. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an M.S. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University.
