Andrew Geall

Chief Development Officer
Replicate Bioscience
Dr. Andrew Geall is a biotechnology innovator and executive recognized internationally for his pioneering work in mRNA vaccines and nucleic acid delivery. He is the Co-Founder and Chief Development Officer at Replicate Bioscience, a biotechnology company developing self-replicating RNA (srRNA)-based medicines for infectious disease, oncology, and autoimmune disorders. He also serves as Chair of the Borad of the Alliance for mRNA Medicines, a global industry organization devoted to advancing the science, development, regulation and adoption of messenger RNA (mRNA) and “next generation encoding RNA” therapeutics and vaccines. Dr. Geall began his scientific career in the UK, earning both his pharmacy degree and PhD in non-viral gene delivery from the University of Bath, after which he transitioned to vaccine and RNA therapeutic research in industry. At Novartis Vaccines (2008-2015), Dr. Geall established and led the company’s global mRNA vaccine platform, acting as Principal Investigator on a major DARPA contract to develop self-amplifying mRNA vaccines. His leadership there laid foundational work for the rapid advancement of mRNA and srRNA technologies later used across the biotech sector. He later joined Avidity Biosciences (2015-2020) as Vice President of Formulations, Analytics & Chemistry, where he helped advance the company’s antibody-oligonucleotide conjugate (AOC) delivery platform and contributed to its successful public offering. The first licensed products in rare muscle diseases are expected in 2026. In February 2026, Novartis completed its $12 billion acquisition of Avidity Biosciences, integrating its RNA-targeting therapeutics and late-stage neuromuscular programs into the Novartis’ pipeline. Dr. Geall then served as Chief Scientific Officer at Precision NanoSystems Inc. (PNI, 2020-2021) for a year, overseeing innovation in lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations and microfluidic manufacturing for RNA delivery. In June 2021, Danaher acquired PNI and integrated the company to complement the activities of its portfolio companies Cytiva and Pall. He then returned to Replicate Bioscience (2021-present) which he had co-founded the prior year. Dr. Geall now leads the scientific and manufacturing development of srRNA therapies, guiding programs through scale-up and clinical development. His career reflects a sustained commitment to translating nucleic-acid science into impactful human therapies and advancing the next generation of RNA medicines.
