In addition to serving as our CEO, Allen has served as the CEO or Board member of multiple large companies. Allen served on the Board of Directors of CareTrust REIT (NASDAQ: CTRE), a $2 billion healthcare REIT, and is currently the Executive Vice Chairman of Biomerica, Inc., a public biomedical enterprise focused on development of revolutionary therapeutic treatments for gastrointestinal diseases. Previously, Allen served as the Chairman and CEO of BioSynthetic Technologies, a specialty chemical company that created novel, bio-based synthetic compounds having a variety of applications in the industrial, personal care, and pharmaceutical sectors. While at BioSynthetic, Allen raised $65 million from venture partners including BP, Monsanto and Evonik Industries. Prior to that, Mr. Barbieri served as CEO of Lancer Orthodontics, a manufacturer of orthodontic devices. Before this, Allen served as President of BUY.COM, a large internet retailer financed with over $300 million in venture capital from Soft Bank. Allen has also served as the CEO of Pacific National Bank, President of Capital Bancorp, and CFO of First Federal Bank. Allen began his career as in Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch in New York. Allen holds an M.B.A. Degree from the MIT, and a Bachelor’s Degree from BYU.
