In 2018, Akash Bakshi co-founded YourChoice Therapeutics, a company that spun out of University of California, Berkeley. Since then, he has served as CEO. The company was accepted into the Winter 2019 batch of Y Combinator, the most competitive seed accelerator in the United States. To date, Akash has secured >20M in investment, the largest amount of funding raised for a private contraceptive biotech. In March 2020, Akash co-founded ANA Therapeutics to develop - a small molecule into an oral COVID-19 therapeutic. ANA was a subsidiary of YourChoice Therapeutics. He raised >6M dollars for the subsidiary and assembled a team of infectious disease, biostatistics, CMC, clinical operations, and regulatory experts, as well as members of the Data Monitoring Committee (DMC). ANA Therapeutics received the “Study-May-Proceed” Letter from the FDA 3.5 months after its incorporation and a Phase 2/3 trial with hospitalized COVID-19 patients is ongoing. ANA Therapeutics was acquired by NeuroBo Pharmaceuticals in December 2020 (In less than 9 months from incorporation). At NeuroBo Pharmaceuticals Akash served as a member of their Nasdaq compliant board, served as Chief Operating Officer, and raised $20+ million dollars on the public market to advance internal objectives.
