Uli Stilz, Ph.D., is the Head of the Novo Nordisk Bio Innovation Hub. In this role, he leads a cross-functional R&D team developing innovative partnership models with partners in academia, biotech, venture capital, and research hospitals to co-create transformative therapeutics and life-changing treatments for people living with cardiometabolic diseases. He earned a master’s in Organic Chemistry from ETH Zürich and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry. After postdoctoral studies at Caltech, he joined Hoechst AG (now Sanofi), where he contributed to over 60 drug candidates. In 2010, he became Associate VP of Sanofi’s Diabetes Innovation unit. Dr. Stilz joined Novo Nordisk in 2014, and in 2019, moved to Boston to establish the Bio Innovation Hub, launched in 2021. With 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry, he has led diverse teams in drug discovery, business development, and strategic alliances. He is an honorary professor at Goethe University Frankfurt, a member of several scientific advisory boards, and a former president of the European Federation of Medicinal Chemistry. He also serves on the Board of Directors at the Kendall Square Association, promoting innovation in Cambridge.
