Prof Trent Munro is a distinguished biotechnology professional with over 25 years of experience in research and development, particularly in the biopharmaceutical sector. He currently holds prominent leadership roles, serving as Chair, Life Sciences Queensland (LSQ) and as an Industry Professor and Director, Biotechnology Innovation at The University of Queensland (UQ). At LSQ, Professor Munro leads initiatives to foster a dynamic and internationally competitive life sciences industry in Queensland, Australia, facilitating collaboration among industry stakeholders to drive business growth and innovation. Professor Munro's career includes significant positions such as Senior Vice President of Therapeutics at Microba, Director of the National Biologics Facility, and Program Director of the CEPI-funded Rapid Response Vaccine pipeline. He also served as Executive Director at Amgen, where he led global teams in translating molecules from research through clinical trials to regulatory approval and global licensure. ​ His academic contributions are substantial, with numerous publications in biotechnology and related fields, reflecting his commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and its practical applications. ​ Through his leadership at LSQ and UQ, Professor Munro continues to drive innovation and collaboration within the life sciences sector, both in Queensland and internationally.
