Dr. Matthew Hewitt is Vice President and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of the Manufacturing Business Division at Charles River Laboratories (CRL), where he leads global strategy for CDMO, Testing, and Microbial Solutions. With over 15 years of experience in cell and gene therapy, he works closely with leadership to oversee a 24-site CGT CDMO network worldwide. Before joining CRL in 2021, Matt held leadership roles at Lonza, Bellicum Pharmaceuticals, and the University of Pennsylvania, focusing on therapeutic development and cell therapy innovation. He earned his PhD in physiology/immunology from the University of Alabama-Birmingham and completed post-doctoral training at Johns Hopkins. He is also a Board Member at the Coriell Institute for Medical Research.
