Gabriela Lavezzari is a seasoned healthcare professional with over 20 years of experience in various roles and sectors, including biopharmaceutical research, clinical diagnostics, health policy, and digital transformation. She is passionate about advancing medical innovation and improving patient outcomes through the application of cutting-edge technologies and evidence-based policies.
As the Head of Digital Transformation & Innovation, Development at GlaxoSmithKline, she leads the strategic and operational activities related to the deployment of digital and tech programmes to improve the development value chain. She oversees a portfolio of initiatives that aim to accelerate and optimize the development, and delivery of new medicines and vaccines, leveraging data and digital platforms.
Prior to joining GSK, she held various leadership positions in the healthcare industry and academia, where she gained a wealth of experience in addressing scientific, regulatory, and reimbursement challenges, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative and patient-centric solutions. She has built and led several teams and functions from the ground up, such as the Global R&D Policy function at GSK, the Business Development function at Biocerna, and the Payment Reform portfolio at Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy.
She has also been involved in policy research and advocacy, having led key policy and regulatory strategies and proposals on behalf of the industry on topics such as biomarkers, patient reported outcomes, digital health, and clinical trial modernization. She has been a member of several prestigious committees and organizations, such as the Biomarker Consortium, the Institute of Medicine, and the Clinical Trial Transformative Initiative.
She has a strong academic background, with a Doctor Degree in Biology from the University of Milano, Italy, and an MBA from the New York Institute of Technology. She has also published several peer-reviewed papers and white papers on various aspects of healthcare innovation.
