CAPT Amanda Cohn, MD, is the former Director for the Division of Birth Defects and Infant Disorders at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She previously served as executive secretariat of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and as chief medical officer for the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD). She recently joined Sanofi Vaccines Medical as Head of New Products and Innovation.
Previously, CAPT Cohn was acting director for the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities and deputy director for the NCIRD Immunization Services Division. She joined the CDC in 2004 as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer and, in 2006, became part of the Meningitis and Vaccine Preventable Diseases Branch, focusing on the prevention and control of meningococcal disease domestically and internationally. From 2007 to 2014, she led the CDC’s ACIP Meningococcal Vaccines Work Group.
CAPT Cohn is board certified in pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She earned her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center.
