Joshua Boger, PhD, founded Vertex Pharmaceuticals (VRTX) in 1989, served as CEO until 2009, and served on Vertex’s board until 2017. Currently he chairs the boards of CervoMed and of Alkeus Pharmaceuticals. CervoMed (CRVO) is a clinical stage company dedicated to the development and commercialization of drug treatments for neurodegenerative diseases with a focus on the early stages of the neurodegenerative process. Alkeus Pharmaceuticals is a private biotech company bringing through late-stage development and into commercialization a novel, oral therapy for Stargardt disease, the third largest monogenic recessive disease and the leading genetic cause of blindness in children and young adults.
