Breakout Session
Business Development and Finance
29AB
Small biotech is at the core of biomedical innovation, but small businesses often struggle to get funding and support for their early-stage research and development. Small businesses receive $1.3 BILLION each year from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Seed Fund, also known as the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. In addition to non-dilutive funding, businesses access unique no-cost product development resources and participate in partnering opportunities. With NIH support, innovators are able to de-risk technologies and accelerate the conversion of scientific discoveries into healthcare solutions. In this session, panelists will highlight some of the late breaking opportunities available to small businesses, answer questions on how to receive NIH’s non-dilutive funding and share their experiences leveraging federal resources to support commercialization efforts.
