Shifting Attitudes Toward Vaccines Among Lawmakers

June 17, 2025
Breakout Session
Infectious Disease and Vaccines
In recent years, public health advocacy has played an increasingly critical role in shaping legislation and policy decisions regarding vaccines. Shifting political landscapes, public opinion, and misinformation have all impacted the way lawmakers address vaccine policy, influencing access and uptake. This session will explore the evolving attitudes of lawmakers toward vaccines, focusing on the importance of public health advocacy in ensuring that science-based vaccine policies are enacted and sustained. The panel will feature insights from experts across the public health and government sectors, as they discuss their experiences engaging with lawmakers, strategies for overcoming resistance or hesitancy, and how they view the future of vaccine legislation in the US and their thoughts on how vaccine policy and advocacy can adapt to our new political climate in a post COVID world. Panelists will encourage attendees to ask questions and engage directly with the experts, providing actionable insights for public health advocates and professionals working to influence vaccine policy.
