Preparing for the Next Generation in Antimicrobial Resistance: Combining Traditional with Non-Traditional Therapeutic Approaches to Tackle an Ongoing Pandemic

June 16, 2025
Breakout Session
Infectious Disease and Vaccines
The threat of antimicrobial resistance is growing globally as the use of higher doses and repeated courses of antibiotics drives more resistant bacteria. Yet innovation in infectious disease has been fraught with challenges, failures, and variable funding as developers scramble to continuously invent more powerful antibiotics. As a community, we need to look differently at this problem, focusing on the resistance mechanisms themselves and identifying complementary strategies to eradicate infection while supporting antibiotic stewardship. Join a panel of multidisciplinary experts to address how we can work together to advance a complementary strategy combining modalities to improve patient outcomes while reducing the threat of resistance. The urgency of this issue demands cross-discipline focus, investment, and partnership.
