America risks falling behind in biotechnology because it hasn't treated the sector as a strategic priority—unlike semiconductors or AI. For example, the currently fragmented and opaque regulatory system stifles innovation and hinders collaboration across government, academia, and industry. This session will explore how to elevate biotechnology as a national priority through the creation of new offices to better coordinate federal efforts across different departments and agencies.
