Augmented Medicines: Use XR Headsets to See What Patients See (Try-It-Yourself Demos)

June 16, 2025
Special Program
AI and Digital Health
257AB

Extended reality (XR) sensory technologies enhance patient agency. This multi-purpose tool elevates patient education, provider communication, multi-dimensional therapy, and comprehensive assessments. When integrated into care plans, compliance and adherence improves patient outcomes. When incorporated into distributed clinical trials, quantitative biometric assessments may be collected as scale. Where adopted in drug discovery, accelerated pace of development is seen. At nearly every level of medicine, XR can play a role in transforming the experience. This tool engages the senses more intuitively and changes perspectives. The goal of the session is to communicate the diverse ways that XR may be complementary to biotech solutions to strategic decision makers.

Demonstrations of XR goggles and conversations with solution developers (Exhibitors) will run throughout the session. Exhibitors will also have the opportunity for lightning talks to reach a broader audience. This session explores the ways XR solutions may be integrated into treatment plans and clinical workflows through expert interviews and live demos. An overview panel will illustrate the breadth of possibility and impact of XR in medical management. Speakers will dive deep into how the benefits of this technology may be realized in health systems, provide a critical analysis of the evidence to date, and acknowledge the systematic barriers to adoption.
