Oxford Medical Products (OMP) is a clinical staged biotech/medtech. OMP has developed a gastro-retentive dual polymer hydrogel. This technology is currently in late stage clinical development for both weight loss treatment and weight loss maintenance post GLP1 therapy. Further to this, the technology is being developed as a gastroretentive drug delivery system with positive early pre-clinical in vivo PK data showing great potential. Sirona is a non-invasive and non-pharmacological obesity treatment.
Sirona is an oral, once daily pill. It is a double-network polymer with a novel mechanical mode of action. Once swallowed, the pill swells rapidly in the stomach to the size of a golf ball, and it causes weight loss by mechanically suppressing appetite. Sirona reduces the available volume in the stomach, causing appetite suppression, leading to reduced food intake and ultimately weight loss.
