The Institute of Microbial Chemistry (IMC) is a non-profit organisation, which hopes to contribute to human health, including new medicines and environmental protection, using natural products produced by micro-organisms as its core.
We are currently seeking partners to collaborate with us in new drug development, make use of our natural product and strain libraries, or work with us on solving environmental problems.
Below are some of the pharmaceutical agents discovered by IMC.
Kanamycin
An aminoglycoside antibiotic that demonstrated efficacy in treating severe infections caused by resistant bacteria. It was launched in the United States, Europe, and Japan, and was widely used globally.
Bleomycin
This anticancer antibiotic was confirmed to have clinical efficacy against squamous cell carcinoma and was marketed accordingly. Bleomycin is internationally recognized as one of the important drugs in cancer therapy.
