Start-Up Stadium

Empowering the Cutting-Edge Companies of Tomorrow, Today

As the world’s largest biotechnology event, the BIO International Convention provides several specialized opportunities geared towards start-up and emerging companies. The Start-Up Stadium was designed to provide start-up companies with the opportunity to engage key members of the investment community, venture philanthropy groups, and BIO attendees. This area in the BIO Exhibition provides an exciting and interactive experience where investors provide live feedback and judge 5-7 minute pitches presented by start-up biotech companies.

BIO has announced 40 finalists for its third annual Start-Up Stadium event, taking place at the BIO International Convention from June 19th-22nd in San Diego, CA. In 2017, applications were submitted from coast to coast across the United States and countries around the world. The finalists, whose sole purpose is to develop cutting-edge technologies and therapeutic solutions while becoming commercially viable, span 14 U.S. states and the globe – with representation from biotech and pharma hotbed countries such as Canada, Germany, and India.

Applications were judged by experts with entrepreneurial, investment, start-up, economic development, capital formation, and academic backgrounds from both the public and private sectors. The first panel of judges reviewed over 100 applications in order to establish the current pool of 40 highly-qualified finalists. The second panel will be evaluating the finalists’ during live presentations at the BIO International Convention (see more information below).
